ED 711: Challenges of Leadership: Conflict and Crisis Management
Fall 2023 Course Summary: This course engages students in a variety of activities designed to enhance their understanding of the leadership challenges which confront today's professionals. When a crisis occurs, institutional leaders are expected to respond and direct the process of recovery. This course merges literature on leadership and best practices in crisis management.
This paper is comprised of two interviews, a store owner and a restaurant manager. It details the interviewees' challenging times and obstacles they faces in their roles.
The Plan and Prevention paper reviews a potential crisis plan of action when faced with various issues or crisis that can impact the business, its employees, and its clients.
The Crisis Simulation Response paper examines an Active Shooter scenario at a middle school. The paper breaks down the three components: Initial Response, Continued Response, and Short-Term Recovery and identifies the areas for improvements.
