Ed 710: Models of Leadership and Coaching

Fall 2023 Course Summary: This course offers a careful study of coaching and mentoring processes useful for empowering individuals and groups toward strategic growth. Instruction will be given on the process, approaches, benefits and relationships of coaching. Various models of coaching will be discussed. This is an experiential course that provides students with an opportunity to learn and practice the art of conducting effective coaching conversations that can be applied to numerous workplace situations.

PT 1: This syntheses analyzes, compares and contrasts John Whitmore’s book, Coaching for Performance (2017), "The Coaching Habit—Say Less, Ask More, and Change the Way You Lead Forever" by Michael Bungay Stanier (2016) and other modes of coaching. 

PT 2 of the synthesis is a continuation of PT 1 and a source-by-source synthesis essay to connect the holistic ideas and constructs presented throughout the coaching for performance course.
